Everyone finds Playa Kenepa Grandi, Shete Boka, and Mambo Beach — the same backdrops showing up in every Curaçao wedding album. For couples who want photos that actually look like their day and not a stock postcard, the island has quieter corners most visitors never see. Here are five spots worth building a session around, and why each one works for photos specifically.
1. Playa Jeremi
A narrow cove near Lagun in the northwest, reached by steps carved into the rock. Still relatively unknown to tourists, it has a reef wall with dramatic coral formations just offshore — great for a couples' portrait with open ocean behind you instead of a crowded sandbar. No shade or facilities, so plan for a shorter session and bring water.
2. Playa Kenepa Chikí
The quieter sibling of Grote Knip, just next door. White sand, and the left side of the beach has excellent snorkeling with manta rays and turtles — a strong option for an underwater or adventure-style engagement shoot without the crowds that pack Grote Knip on weekends.
3. Santu Pretu
A genuinely hidden beach near Santa Cruz Bay, reached via a seven-minute hiking trail from the bay's left side. The walk itself works as a built-in "journey" story for an engagement set — arrival shots at a secluded beach feel earned rather than staged.
4. The Blue Room
An underwater cave accessible from Santa Cruz Bay with electric-blue water inside — a dramatic, unusual option for couples who scuba or free-dive together. Not for anyone claustrophobic; the entrance is narrow and requires careful hand placement on the rocks. Best suited to adventurous couples who want something no one else's gallery has.
5. Playa Manzalina
A secluded, undeveloped beach on the private San Juan plantation, shaded by manzalina trees. Requires a vehicle suited to bumpy roads and a small entrance fee, but the payoff is privacy — natural tree cover for softer light at midday, and no other visitors in frame. Ideal for a relaxed, unhurried couples session.
